6015 - Robbery, Netcong

On 5/6/06 at 6:40 pm, patrols responded to the Netcong Shop Rite in reference to an employee who had been assaulted by a shoplifter. Upon arrival they were advised by the victim that he had observed a white male attempting to exit the store through the entrance door. As this occurred, the employee had seen store merchandise drop from underneath the male's coat.

The employee then followed the male outside and saw that he had joined another white male. He then saw the shoplifter enter a white vehicle that was parked on the side of the building. The employee then approached the vehicle, which the shoplifter had entered. While doing so, he observed the second male run around the store (Wiltop Road area). The employee then reached into the driver's side window in an attempt to prevent the shoplifter from driving away. The shoplifter then rolled the window up far enough so that the employee had to travel with the vehicle through part of the lot before freeing himself. The vehicle then left the area traveling on Route 46 East. The employee received minor injuries to his right arm.
